Dear Colleagues,

I will be retired on August 8, 2009. However I will continue my collaboration with my research team for a while. Thus, I will remain available for papers reviewing or advices to students.

If my email at the University is closed, please use the following address instead:

Interest
Within the general framework of Landscape Ecology, my current work is mainly devoted to the study of  animal communities in terrestrial ecosystems (biodiversity, species assemblages, species life traits, response of communities to natural and anthropogenic disturbances, spatial patterns, dispersal in landscapes). Relationships between landscape characteristics and community structure in water bodies (macro-invertebrates) are also investigated.

Biological models
Historically, most of my work was devoted to Chironomidae (Insecta: Diptera) in France and subantarctic islands, with a special emphasis on terrestrial and semi-terrestrial species (community structure, life traits, population dynamics, dispersal, resistance to soil drought, relationships between aquatic and terrestrial habitats).

But, since 1998, I am studying several biological models such as other Dipterans, Coleoptera, Lepidoptera, small mammals and birds.

My field of research includes: community ecology, species-environment relationships, responses to natural disturbances and anthropogenic pressure, biodiversity changes, landscape analysis, species spatial patterning, dispersal and colonization, resources dispatching and use in heterogeneous landscapes, functional diversity, conservation ecology.

Other skills :
Ecology, Taxonomy, Ecophysiology, Soil fauna, Aquatic invertebrates, Vertebrates, Quantitative landscape analysis, Multivariate k-tables statistics.

Teaching is for me a pleasure and I like very much to transmit my knowledge and experience to students for helping them to define experimental design, analyse complex results with the right statistical methods, efficiently write well-structured and convincing papers for international journals. Reviewing manuscripts for scientific journals is also a way for me to provide help and advices to young researchers abroad.  Writing courses for a "virtual university" is also, of course, a pleasant challenge...
