My work combines several approaches to organismal studies, in order to determinate if it is possible to predict certain evolutionary patterns. The model organism I actually work on is the bacteria Pseudomonas fluorescens, and I work alongside several teams in France (Ecobio, Rennes; LINA, Nantes; IRISA, Rennes), and Switzerland (ISTE, Lausanne) to merge metabolic modeling, in vitro experimental work, sequencing analysis and microfluidics in order to study the evolution of functional traits in microorganisms. I am also quite intrigued by a particular phenomenon of gene loss when it is compensated by the environment (as presented in the recent Black Queen Hypothesis).
