Comprendre et exploiter les écosystèmes microbiens pour les biotechnologies environnementales

Résumé : Microbes are the most abundant living entities on earth and are the key engines that drive earth's biogochemical cycles. Better understanding and harnessing the metabolic abilities of microbiomes is urgently needed to face current environmental threats. I will illustrate (i) how recent meta-omic approaches can shade light on the functioning of microbiomes, (ii) how this knowledge can be used to design microbial biotechnology processes for environmental biorefineries, (iii) how we can build on the observation of microbial community assembly patterns to design more predictive models coupling biogeochemical fluxes to energy balances and microbial dynamics.
